How We Research Home Saunas

No black box. Here's exactly what goes into every ranking we publish — and what doesn't.

What we do

  1. Manufacturer specifications. We pull the official specs for every sauna we rank: heater type and technology, capacity, dimensions, power requirements, materials, and included features — straight from the manufacturer.
  2. Warranty analysis. We read the actual warranty terms — what's covered, for how long, and what the exclusions are. A 7-year heater warranty means something very different from a 1-year limited warranty, and we weight it accordingly.
  3. Verified buyer reviews. We read thousands of reviews from verified purchasers across retailers and forums, looking for patterns: recurring complaints, praised features, delivery and assembly experiences.
  4. Published test data. When brands publish third-party testing — EMF readings, safety certifications — we note it. When they don't, we note that too. Silence is data.
  5. Pricing tracking. Sauna prices move constantly with promotions. We re-verify starting prices regularly and always advise confirming at checkout.
  6. Expert and industry sources. Trade coverage, industry growth data, and installer/electrician guidance inform our buying advice.

What we don't do

  • We don't claim hands-on testing we didn't perform. We don't own a warehouse of saunas. Our reviews are research-based analysis — and every page says so. Any site claiming to have "tested 20 saunas" without evidence should be read skeptically, including us if we ever claimed it.
  • We don't take payment for rankings. Affiliate commissions are earned only when readers buy through our links — the same rate regardless of which product we rank first. Brands cannot pay for placement.
  • We don't publish thin listicles. Every ranked product gets specs, pros, cons, and a verdict. If we can't say anything substantive about a sauna, it doesn't make the list.

  • Warranty terms and brand track record — 25%
  • Verified buyer feedback patterns — 20%
  • Value for money at the price point — 15%
  • Features, smart controls, and extras — 10%

Corrections
